Australian Fashion Week 2026: The Trends We're Already Wearing

Australian Fashion Week 2026: The Trends We're Already Wearing

Australian Fashion Week has descended on Sydney Harbour for the first time in over a decade and we can't stop consuming the trends spotted on and off the runway.

It's only day two, but we're seeing the leading labels in Australian fashion showcasing their styles from the sand on Tamarama beach to a golden hour presentation at the iconic Sydney Opera House. From beach to city, a true capture of the connection between Australian lifestyle and fashion.

It's not just the runways we've been looking to for inspiration. Fashion Week street style produces some of the most inspirational looks of the season.

Sheer layering, vivid colours, poet core knits and sharp suiting have been spotted on the streets in Sydney and straight onto our radar.

Here are the trends we're already seeing and exactly how to wear them now.

Sheer Layering

Layering has been a quiet constant at Australian Fashion Week for a few seasons now and this season is no different. It's a staple of transitional dressing and an art form when styled correctly, creating an effortless look that allows you to mix and match garments from season-to-season.

We're loving the sheer layer look at Sean Scott Boutique, with new arrivals from Assembly Label and Sister Studios taking the guess work out of layering.

Vivid Colours

Street style in particular saw waves of vivid colour, the kind of looks worn with confidence that stands out from the rest of the crowds. Similar to if you've visited our boutique on the Gold Coast, our favourites shades captured on the streets of Sydney are shades of sunshine yellow and soft blue. The perfect blend of warm and cool tones, perfectly complimenting the transitional weather of Autumn and Spring trends on the Gold Coast.

The latest drop of Olga Joan sees one of their most popular styles, the Bias Jacquard Skirt in both Knee and Mini, reimagined in Limone and Cielo - landing exactly at the right moment.

Expressive Tailoring

Individual and bold, plaid and check tailored pieces were seen on the streets to the runway at AFW 26, worn oversized, layered, and with intention. From tailored blouses to cropped jackets, it's the perfect trend we're already stying for AW26.

New Brisbane-made brand Obelias arrived at Sean Scott Boutique this week, with their expressive tailoring and perfect plaid, it's the perfect investment piece to style that trend while looking effortlessly cool.

Assembly Label new arrives have hit the mark with their wool check this season, cropped jackets perfect for year-round styling.

AFW 2026 is still running. We'll be watching the rest of the week closely (you may even spot us in the city). Everything you need to wear the trends now is in store and online at Sean Scott Boutique. Shop in-store at 21c James Street, Burleigh Heads or online.
